I always love the view of misty mountains in the distance. There is a park with three large ponds in my neighborhood, and when Spring comes the sakura or cherry trees lining the waterfront burst in a breathtakingly beautiful symphony of pink and white blooms.

Among my favorite lakes are the Five Lakes of Mount Fuji. I’ve painted one in autumn. While the view is not the same as the imaginary scene above, I got my inspiration from these large, scenic freshwater lakes.
Here’s a framing idea:
Yozakura or night cherry blossoms are one of the blessings of Spring. But I always prefer to see the fully blooming trees just after sunset. There is a tranquil, even eerie beauty to cherry blossoms at dusk, when there is very little light left in the sky and the blooms seem to radiate a glow through their sheer beauty.
